Come See Carnegie Mellon

| | Comments (0)
Our staff has been out and about visiting many parts of the nation over the last month.  Despite the fact that we have a couple more weeks of travel ahead of us, we are also starting to shift our focus to a couple of opportunities we have to visit campus.  The program is called the Sleeping Bag Weekend, and is an opportunity for a prospective first year student and their family to visit our campus.

Sunday has a packed schedule of events for the entire family - campus tours, student panels, information sessions with departments on campus, and a catered lunch.  Sunday night visiting students are paired up with an Overnight Ambassador - a current student who volunteers to put up a prospective student in their room for the night.  Monday offers visiting students the opportunity to sit in on classes in the departments they are interested in applying to.

Our first Sleeping Bag Weekend is this coming weekend and registration has been maxed out for a couple of weeks already.  We will be offering three more (one later this month, one in November, and one in January), so if you are interested in coming to see Carnegie Mellon consider taking advantage of this opportunity!  For more information please visit the Sleeping Bag Weekend site.

Notch another Nobel for the Tepper School.  Dale Mortensen, who earned his PhD from Carnegie Mellon's Graduate School of Industrial Administration (now the Tepper School of Business) is one of three men to share the Nobel Prize in Economics this year.

This marks the second year in a row and fourth time since the turn of the century that an individual associated with the Tepper School has been awarded a Nobel.  For a full list of winners visit our website
